Sterling silver Faience Scarab Pendant with Sterling chain

Scarab pendants have been popular for centuries especially by the Egyptians who would adorn their dead with scarabs to protect them and help them travel to the after life. It became very popular once again during the 1920s with Egyptian revival jewellery. Once more people are enjoying wearing scarabs as they represent good luck, rebirth and protection. This one is a stunning large statement piece. With a large faience craved scarab set in a sterling silver setting which has this lovely textured pattern to it. This is being sold with the lovely flat cable link chain so it’s ready to wear. 

Hallmarks- worn, but it looks to be a Lion for sterling silver on the pendant. 

Weighs- 17.12g

Measures- 4.7cm x 2.5cm wide. The chain is 22inches long

This pendant is in good condition, there is some pitting to the scarab and one of the claws is slightly broken but it is still holding the scarab securely. It has been cleaned and polished sympathetically to keep patina.
