Antique Sterling Silver Shibayama Vesta Case

Such a cool vesta case. These vesta cases in Victorian and Edwardian eras were use to hold matches and have a striker at the bottom of them so you could light your match, wearing them on watch chains, but in present day we wear them as a pendant, potentially on an Albert chain still but worn like a necklace. Isn’t it so cool that we are taking antique pieces and wearing them still making them our own. They are like XL lockets, you can put pictures in them, trinkets that mean something to you or even our medication. They are extremely useful. This one specifically feels modern in its styling with its lined checkered engravings. Then we have the cutest little Shibayama bugs made from inlaid mother of pearl. Shibayama is a Japanese inlay technique which was super popular during the Victorian era. These little bugs have engraved legs and antenna just so sweet.
